IT Specialist – Vietnam

Responsible for providing on-site support of computers, servers, and network infrastructure. Respond to any and all inbound service requests in a timely and professional manner. The roles of this position includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading computer hardware and software to ensure optimal performance.  This position helps troubleshoots system issues, provides administrative software support and participates in system implementation projects along with requiring a responsive and highly productive professional who can work with all team members.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides comprehensive/complex technical support services in information technology including installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting and repair of hardware, software, networking and applications.

Manages, coordinates and implement all activities related to the operations and maintenance of the organization technology.

Installs, configures, and maintains workstations and peripheral equipment. Installs PC’s and related hardware. Investigates hardware problems and performs minor system hardware and communication connection repairs. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, resolves and documents difficult hardware, software and network connectivity problems.

Maintain current knowledge of security issues (e.g., monitor e-mail lists and other sources of security alerts and warnings.) Assess and respond to known and new security alerts.

Responds to inquiries and requests for assistance with the project team’s computer systems or PC’s. Identifies problems, troubleshoots and provides advice to assist users.

Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures, as necessary, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the project team.

Assist with purchase, setup, maintenance, upgrades, diagnostics, repair and replacement of voice telephony systems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Requires a B.S. degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related Information Technology discipline.

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in professional IT role.

Extensive knowledge of network administration, Windows Server, as well as MS Windows based computer hardware, software, networking and data communications technologies and applications.

Proficient written and spoken English and Vietnamese skills are required.

PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with USAID-funded projects.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION

In order to integrate the foreign assistance effort into the community, enhance the skills of the cooperating country’s population, and contribute to the local economy, this position is designated for a Cooperating Country National (CCN), meaning an individual who is a cooperating country citizen, or a non-cooperating country citizen lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the cooperating country.
